Kinard Award

The W. Frank Kinard Distinguished Service Award, established in 2014, recognizes NUCL members for outstanding service to the division and the field of nuclear science. The award is named in honor of Prof. W. Frank Kinard, who passed away in June 2013. Frank served the NUCL division as its secretary for 17 years, and for 15 year was the primary instructor for the National Nuclear Summer School in San Jose. Nominations for the award will be solicited by the ad-hoc NUCL Awards Nominations Committee in early Summer each year. This committee will also select the award recipient. The award consists of a personalized plaque and certificate, and is presented to the awardee at the NUCL Business Meeting held during the Fall ACS National Meeting.

The Frank Kinard Distinguished Service Award nominations are due by July 1, 2025.

The nomination packet consists of a nomination letter (no more than 2 pages) on the nominator’s letterhead detailing the nominee’s service contributions, as well as a short (2 page) CV from the nominee. The nomination packet should be sent electronically to the Awards Committee Chairs (Nathalie.Wall@ufl.edu and deborah.penchoff@ucf.edu).
