Assistant Professor in Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics (Radiochemistry)

University of Wisconsin-Madison

University of Wisconsin-Madison NEEP seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in nuclear engineering, with applications in the generation, processing and management of radioisotopes across different disciplines.
Across the landscape of nuclear science and technology, the processes for generating, separating and applying specific radioisotopes are becoming more important, for example: Separation and management of tritium will be critical for the safe, reliable and economic growth of fusion and advanced fission technologies. Novel medical radioisotopes are being discovered and explored using multiple sources, including accelerators, neutron irradiation and fission products. There is a renewed national interest in processing of used nuclear fuel, with multiple value streams being generated across different industry sectors.

Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Nuclear Engineering

The University of Utah

The John and Marcia Price College of Engineering at the University of Utah is hiring a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CVEEN), focused on Nuclear Engineering. The position is open at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (Lecturer) level and will begin in August 2027.
We are looking for an outstanding educator specializing in nuclear engineering to advance our Nuclear Engineering Program (UNEP) and support our teaching mission. The main responsibility will be teaching a variety of nuclear engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including topics such as nuclear fundamentals, reactor theory, radiation detection, fuel cycles, and thermal-hydraulics. While the primary focus is on nuclear engineering, candidates who are also able to teach core Civil and Environmental Engineering courses—such as statics, hydraulics, and strength of materials—will be viewed favorably, but this is not a requirement for the position.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or a closely related field by the start date. Strong communication skills, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success are required. Key responsibilities include: teaching nuclear engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels; (optionally) teaching core Civil and Environmental Engineering courses; helping update and improve the nuclear engineering curriculum; advising and mentoring students; and participating in departmental, college, and university service, including outreach and workforce development to grow Nuclear Engineering at the University of Utah.
