Professor Walter D. Loveland was named the 2014 Glenn T. Seaborg Award for Nuclear Chemistry, and a symposium in his honor will be held during the 247th ACS National Meeting in Dallas, TX. Walter has made important contributions to the understanding of nuclear reactions and their role in the production of isotopes as the far reaches of the nuclear chart, including those of the superheavy elements. He also has had impact on nuclear chemistry education, both through his work on the “The Living Textbook of Nuclear Chemistry” and as coauthor of the “Modern Nuclear Chemistry” text. Walter served as NUCL division chair in 2002, and as an Alternate Councilor from 1988-1990. Please join us in Dallas as we recognize Walter for his outstanding achievements in nuclear chemistry.
