Position Description 

The Separation Science group in the Chemical Science & Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory solicits applicants for a basic-research staff position in the area of chemical separations. The new staff member will join a vibrant team that is focused on developing a fundamental understanding of the physical and chemical factors enabling optimal capacity, selectivity, and robustness. Within this group environment, the successful applicant will be expected to develop a robust, complementary research program in liquid-liquid, membrane or related separations and will be expected to contribute to the planning, sourcing, and development of new initiatives and ongoing research activities.

Position Requirements 

Expertise in structural characterization, solution chemistry, analytical chemistry and thermodynamics are highly desirable. A knowledge of synchrotron-based structural techniques, f-element chemistry, optical spectroscopy and/or NMR would be an asset.  The successful candidate will join a group of staff with diverse backgrounds in inorganic and physical chemistry, separations sciences, and condensed matter physics. They will have an opportunity to work with advanced instrumentation and computational facilities available at Argonne National Laboratory. The applicant is expected to hold a Ph.D. with knowledge and expertise in chemistry or physics and is expected to possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Although this is designed as an entry level position, senior-level researchers will be considered.
