Post-doc position – Seaborg Institute

We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research staff member. We are seeking an environmental radiochemist, chemist or geochemist to study, characterize and model the geochemical behavior of radionuclides in the environment using advanced spectroscopic and analytical techniques.

The candidate will design, conduct and oversee laboratory and possibly field experiments involving sorption/desorption kinetics of actinides on mineral surfaces in the presence of dissolved organic matter and microorganisms. The candidate is expected to apply advanced spectroscopic and analytical techniques (e.g. TEM, SEM, NanoSIMS, EXAFS, XRD, ICP-MS) to characterize laboratory and field samples and develop conceptual and numerical models of actinide behavior in groundwater.

The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary research team environment that is investigating the biogeochemical processes that control the behavior of actinides in the surface-subsurface. The candidate will be part of the Glenn T. Seaborg Institute, located in Livermore CA.

LLNL offers competitive salaries and full benefits, with postdoc salaries starting at $86,400, depending on experience. You must have received your PhD within the last 5 years.
